Born in the Mediterranean as the youngest of eleven siblings, Kameel's culinary journey began in the warmth of his family kitchen, where the rhythmic dance of flavors and the communal spirit of mealtime left an indelible mark on his young heart. Under the watchful eyes of his mother and sisters, Kameel learned that the secret to exceptional food lies not just in the ingredients, but in the love and care infused into each dish.
These early lessons became the foundation upon which Aviva by Kameel was built when it opened its doors in October 2012. Our mission was clear: to introduce the healthiest, most flavorful Mediterranean food to Atlanta, paired with an unforgettable customer experience reminiscent of a family gathering back home.
When Kameel immigrated to America in 1982, he brought with him a dream: to share the rich, healthful traditions of the Mediterranean diet—just as his mother and sisters had shared with him. Over the years, Kameel has not only realized this dream but has also become a trailblazer in the culinary scene, from the upscale Cafe Aviva to the bustling Kameel's Cafe and its three locations.
Today, Aviva by Kameel represents the culmination of Kameel's lifelong passion and the principles he holds dear: the use of premium, organic, and hormone-free ingredients, a staunch commitment to cleanliness, and the continuation of family recipes that have been passed down through generations. In 2013, the Aviva family grew as Kameel's son, Nas, joined the business, infusing it with new energy and ideas while staying true to the core values that have made Aviva a beloved institution. Together, they opened the newest location at CODA in Midtown on July 7, 2020, marking a new chapter in our story.
