Born in the small city of Nazareth, and the youngest of 11 children, Kameel gained his passion for food at a young age. Growing up, he watched his mother cook, and became very interested in not only food, but also the impact food has on one’s health. He is a definite believer in the statement, “You are what you eat,” and wants to share his vision of food with others.
He immigrated to New York in his mid 20s, and began working in the food industry. After working in restaurants in New York and Canada, Kameel moved to Atlanta where he opened his first restaurant Café Aviva. This was an upscale, sit-down restaurant located in the heart of midtown Atlanta. He also opened restaurants in Colony Square, Perimeter Mall and Peachtree Center all under the name of Kameel’s Café. Chef Kameel is married to a lovely woman and have three children.
Aviva by Kameel is Chef Kameel’s latest business venture, serving customers healthy fresh food with a Mediterranean twist. The meat is Halal, local and hormone free, the vegetables are U.S. grown and purchased from local farmers as Kameel values the impact it has on the Atlanta economy, and the Georgia community as a whole.
Kameel is regarded as a top gourmet chef, and had participated in seafood competition at Prince Edward Island, Canada.
